Preparing for Your Chemical peel

3 days prior:

  • Avoid use of retinol, Tretinion (i.e. Retin-A).

  • Avoid waxing the area to be treated.

  • Avoid laser treatments in the area to be treated.

  • For men do not shave your face the morning of your peel.

  • Avoid topical exfoliants of any kind. (Including Exfoderm).

  • Avoid products with salicylic acid or alpha hydroxy acids.

  • Do not use self-tanning agents for at least 48 hours.

  • A chemical peel will not be applied on tanned or sunburned skin.

  • If you are on Accutane, you are not a good candidate for treatments at this time.

Post Chemical Peel:

  • Make-up application depends on which type of peel is performed.

  • You will need a mild moisturizer to help with any irritation, peeling, and or flaking that may occur, a post-procedure cream may be recommended.

  • Depending on your skin type, you may resume Retin-A and other topicals two to three days post peel.

  • If you had a peel that will result in peeling of the skin, DO NOT peel, or pick the peeling skin as this could cause unwanted pigmentation.

  • You must apply a sunscreen of at least SPF 30 daily.
